Without a Trace (きれいさっぱりと , Kireisappari to) is chapter 25 of the Beelzebub manga.
Summary[]
In the middle of the city, Oga becomes excited upon hearing Shōji mention Tōjō. Having been knocked down into a pile of garbage, he stands up. Shōji is extremely happy, claiming he would have been bored easily if Oga stayed down already. Oga begins attempting to punch Shōji, but he is unsuccessful as Shōji easily dodges every one. Shōji then begins to lunge at Oga, remarking that he’s okay at fighting, but can still improve. This time, Oga throws a garbage bag at Shōji to distract him, then attempts to kick him. Yet again, Shōji dodges him. Shōji taunts him, then tries to punch his head. Suddenly his fist stops just below Oga’s chin. Shōji had stopped to answer his cell phone, which had just started ringing. Answering it, he realizes something is happening and tells Oga they’ll have to end their battle. Before Shōji leaving, Oga asks him what relation he has with Tōjō. Walking off, Shōji tells him that he’s his number one subordinate.
Oga returns home to find Misaki sitting on the living room couch having another ice cream stick. She tells Oga that she thought Hilda left with him to buy soy sauce. Oga walks up to his room to find Beelzebub alone still resting on his bed and Hilda gone. Oga is disgruntled over the irony of Hilda making such a fuss over taking care of Beelzebub only to abandon him. Oga changes the towel over Beelzebub’s head and falls asleep, snoring beside him. Beelzebub opens his eyes shortly after.
The next morning, Oga finds that Beelzebub too has disappeared from him. Furuichi finds Oga happily declaring that Hilda and Beelzebub have left without a trace. Suddenly, Misaki is seen delivering a flying kick to Oga’s head, ashamed that her brother did something that hurt her feelings and that he’ll never find a bride like her again. Furuichi tries to explain to her what happened, but Misaki throws Oga out the front door. She tells him never to come back until she finds Hilda again.
Walking on the street with Furuichi, Oga feels relieved again that his responsibility has been unneeded again. Finding the weather hot, Oga plans on walking by the river. Furuichi, following him, thinks that Oga may really be looking for Hilda and Beelzebub after all. There, they find Shōji, whom apologizes to Oga for leaving him so suddenly last night to go home. He calls Tōjō, whom comes out of the bushes nearby to reveal himself to Oga. Commenting on how Oga was thinner than he thought, Tōjō is revealed to be carrying Beelzebub off his shoulder. With Beelzebub glazed, Tōjō calls for a fight with Oga.
